How to check the calibration on your Cooking Oil Tester (TPM)

How-To | Check your Cooking Oil Tester (TPM) against reference oil so your TPM readings stay accurate.

Written by Freyja Jensen-Dowell

Before You Start

Check the calibration every 3 months, or sooner if your readings look off. This keeps your Cooking Oil Tester (TPM) accurate.

You will need:

  • Your Cooking Oil Tester (TPM)

  • Access to hot water

  • Reference oil — Copeland Calibration Test Oil, part #9423. This is available from local suppliers, or contact the Squizify support team for help sourcing it. Check that it is in date.

Steps

  1. Clean the sensor using a cloth or disposable paper towel.

  2. Place the reference oil container in a jug of hot water.

  3. Warm the oil until it reaches 50°C.

  4. Immerse the Cooking Oil Tester into the reference oil and take a reading.

  5. Compare the reading with the label value. If the deviation is more than 2%, adjustment is necessary. If the deviation is 2% or less, no adjustment is needed.

You have checked the calibration of your Cooking Oil Tester.
