Cooking Oil Tester (TPM) won't connect to the Squizify app

Troubleshooting | Fix pairing problems between your Cooking Oil Tester (TPM) and the Squizify app.

Before You Start

Your Cooking Oil Tester (TPM) connects through the Squizify app, not your tablet's Bluetooth settings. Pairing a Squizify device directly in Bluetooth settings can cause it to fail and need replacing.

Make sure the tester is charged and switched on.

Steps to Fix

  1. On Android, check the Squizify app has Bluetooth and nearby-devices permissions enabled, and that you are on the latest Android version.

  2. In the app, tap the thermometer icon in the top-right corner, and tap scan if it does not start automatically.

  3. Press the tester's power button. When Oil Tester appears, press Pair (Android) or select Oil-Tester in the pop-up (iPhone).

  4. If it is connected but readings will not record, check you are on a page that takes a TPM reading, tap the probe icon on the row, then press Save.

If Still Not Working

Turn the tester off and on, keep your tablet close to it, and try again. If it still will not connect, see When to repair or replace your Cooking Oil Tester (TPM).

Why This Happens

The tester switches off if it does not pair within 20 seconds, so pair promptly after pressing power. Connection problems are most often missing app permissions, or an attempt to pair through phone Bluetooth settings instead of the app.
