My temperature sensor is offline
How do I know if a sensor is offline?
We offer three methods of identifying offline sensors:
On the Sensors page the sensor will have an orange border with red dashes to replace the temperature, and red font for the date/time of the last reading.
Pop up alerts within the Squizify app on your mobile/tablet device
Email and/or SMS notifications (if configured)
What can I do?
Test near another working sensor
The first step is to place the sensor next to a working sensor and wait to see if it automatically reconnected.
You can do this by:
Remove the sensor from the food storage unit.
(We recommend taking a photo of the sensors current position within the unit to ensure it is put back in the same location after)
Place the sensor next to a confirmed working sensor
Wait 1 hour then check if the date/time of the last reading has changed - All we need is for the date/time to change, it will take longer for the sensor to update to the current date/time.
(When a sensor loses connection it will continue taking temperature readings, then when it reconnects it will take some time to upload all the data it has stored, the goal here is to see if the sensor reconnects automatically and starts sending through the data backlog)
Reset your sensor
If the sensor does not reconnect automatically you will need to manually reset the sensor. You can find video guides on how to do this here: Resetting your Squizify sensor.
(When a sensor is reset it will lose any data it has stored, so it's important to troubleshoot offline sensors as early as possible to avoid losing compliance data!)
Turn the sensor off.
Wait 5 minutes.
Turn the sensor on.
Wait 15 minutes then check if the sensor is displaying the current date/time in the Squizify app.
Sensor is still offline
If your sensor is still unable to connect please reach out to our support team via the in-app chat bubble.
